Katy Perry Takes Home Best Female Video At The 2014 VMAs

"Dark Horse" was the (not so much) dark horse winner.

Congratulations are in order for Katy Perry!
It was one of the 2014 Video Music Awards‘ toughest categories, but Perry emerged victorious in the Best Female Video category for her “Dark Horse” video. The competition was stiff — Perry had to best Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea for “Problem,” Azalea again for “Fancy,” Lorde for “Royals,” and Beyonce for “Partition” — but the fun and colorful video reigned supreme.
“We just want to say thank you so much,” Perry said as she took the stage to accept her award from Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani. “We put a lot of time and effort and hard work into this song… Thank you KatyCats!”
Perry had already had quite a night at the 2014 VMAs, even though the show had only just begun. After promising Britney Spears that she would debut a brand new impression on the carpet, she showed up (with Riff Raff) in a hilarious throwback outfit to Spears’ (and Justin Timberlake’s) infamous denim look from 2001, much to the surprised delight of every ’90s child in the universe. Well played, Ms. Perry. Well played.
